Panoramas et Synthèses collection expounds 100 to 150 page-long articles which clarify and update some mathematical point (These articles can be find both in French and English).
These articles come out of a meeting or are the result of an author's personal reflection. The authors attempt to focus on the pitfalls, to suggest a proof and to give a brief survey on the recent history of the subject. This collection wishes to cover the whole mathematical domain and its connections to other fields. Although this collection is young, it has published a few volumes already considered as standard reference works, as for instance :
- Billiards, by S. Tabachnikov
- Introduction à la théorie de Hodge, by J. Bertin, J.-P. Demailly, L. Illusie et C. Peters
- Quantum Groups and Knots Invariants, by C. Kassel, M. Rosso et V. Turaev.
The texts are aimed at mathematicians who are not necessarily specialised in the presented subject. Therefore they are particularly recommended to postgraduate students.
